- 전주국제사진제가 개최된 지 18년이 되는 해입니다.

2025년 제18회 전주포토페스티벌이 4월 26일부터 5월 11일까지 전주 서학동예술마을 일대에서 개최됩니다. 올해 페스티벌은 총 9개 섹션으로 구성되며, 국내외 사진가들의 다양한 작품이 전시됩니다. 전주포토페스티벌은 사진 예술의 흐름을 한눈에 조망할 수 있는 대표적인 행사로, 창작과 교류의 장을 제공하며 사진예술의 현재를 탐구하는 의미 있는 시간을 선사합니다.

올해 국제전은 예술감독으로 Eric Weeks(펜실베이니아 아트디자인대학 예술학과장)과 해외기획자로서 Jerome De Perlinghi(‘Eyes on Main Street Wilson’ 디렉터)가 스트릿 포토 큐레이팅을 맡아 수준 높은 해외 사진작품을 선보입니다. 국내 특별전으로는 창립부터 전주포토페스티벌의 중심에 서있는 다큐멘터리 사진가 성남훈작가와 후지필름코리아가 공동 기획하며, 올해 처음으로 한국여성사진가협회(회장 최인숙)와의 협력으로 이정희(뉴포토그래퍼 대표)가 한국 여성 사진가 10명을 초대해 특별전을 개최합니다.

젊은 사진가를 양성하는 프로그램은 ‘자유시간’이 4회째를 맞이하며, 올해는 국내 15개 사진 관련 전공 대학이 참여하였습니다. 또한, ‘자유발언 포토프리젠테이션’에서는 임안나(상명대학교 교수)와 김지민(갤러리더씨 대표)이 프리젠테이션 심사를 진행하여 미래의 재능 있는 사진가들을 발굴합니다.

올해는 ‘국내전(주제전)인 뉴 포트폴리오 섹션으로 국내외에서 활발히 활동하는 6명의 사진가들를 초청하여 더욱 풍성한 전시를 선보이며, 기획은 배진희(머그출판사 대표)가 맡았습니다. 또한, 각 도시의 역사와 문화를 담은 ‘전주 로컬 문화 사진전’은 차진현 사진가가 큐레이팅하여, 전국 각 지역에서 활발히 활동하는 작가들을 초대합니다.
이와 함께, 에프갤러리(대표 권은경)는 해외 작가와 국내 작가가 함께하는 갤러리 참가전으로 국제적 감각을 갖춘 전시를 기획하여 선보입니다.

- It has been 18 years since the Jeonju International Photo Festival was held.

The 18th Jeonju Photo Festival in 2025 will be held from Apr. 26 to May 11 around the Art Village in Seohak-dong, Jeonju. This year's festival will consist of a total of nine sections, and various works by domestic and foreign photographers will be displayed. The Jeonju Photo Festival is a representative event where visitors can see the flow of photography art at a glance, providing a meaningful time to create and exchange, and to explore the present of photography art.

This year's international exhibition will feature high-quality overseas photos, with Eric Weeks (head of the art department at the University of Pennsylvania Art Design) as the artistic director and Jerome de Perlinghy (director of Eyes on Main Street Wilson) as the overseas planner. As a special exhibition in Korea, documentary photographers Seong nam Hoon and Fujifilm Korea, who have been at the center of the Jeonju Photo Festival since their foundation, will jointly organize a special exhibition by Lee Jung-hee (CEO of New Photographer) in cooperation with the Korean Women Photographers Association (Chairman Choi In-sook).

Free Time marks the fourth anniversary of the young photographer training program, and 15 major universities related to photography in Korea participated this year. Also, at the Free Speech Photo Presentation, Im Anna (professor at Sangmyung University) and Kim Ji-min (CEO of gallery The See) will conduct presentation reviews to discover talented photographers of the future.

This year, with a new portfolio section called domestic exhibitions (theme exhibition), six photographers who are active at home and abroad will be invited to display richer exhibitions, and Bae Jin-hee (CEO of Mug Publishing) will be in charge of the planning. In addition, the Jeonju Regional Culture Photo Exhibition, which contains the history and culture of each city, is organized by photographer Cha Jin-hyun and invites artists who are active in each region of the country.
In addition, Gallery F (CEO Kwon Eun-kyung) plans and presents exhibitions with international sensations as gallery participation exhibitions with foreign and domestic artists.
