“See the Space & Feel the Time”

- This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Jeonju International Photo Festival.

The sweltering last summer is over, and the autumn photo festivals in various regions are giving us new energy after we are tired of viruses and typhoons. The continuous attack of the pandemic for over two years just before the 15th photo festival was over, ironically, provided another inspiration to the creators of the world. In difficult times, it seems that there are ideas in reality that will fill another space for creators. This year, we invited a small class of artists to fill the spaces of the past as well as the spaces of the present and future. I am always grateful to the organizers and writers who willingly participated in the Jeonju Small Photo Festival even in difficult circumstances.

The Jeonju International Photo Festival is an artist-centered photo festival. It lays a rug exclusively for writers, and provides an infinite space to freely enjoy, converse, and receive new inspiration on it. The precious time in Jeonju will remain as a new space where we can share a new future that is hard to foresee, such as crossing different eras in the same place, talking without hesitation from those in their 20s to their 60s and 70s, discussing and communicating as much as they want. will I hope that the time of 2022.Jeonju Photofest will be remembered as the most enjoyable and happiest photo festival for photographers to visit again.This year too, we plan to prepare as an exciting and live dwarf photo festival with young artists who are carefully invited and outstanding mid-level photographers who are active in the era. I hope that it will remain as a happy and valuable memory in Jeonju for all the visitors, Jeonju officials, planners, participating artists, and visitors.

“See the Space & Feel the Time” (시간을 보고 공간을 느낀다)

- 올해는 전주국제사진제가 출범한지 15년이 되는 해입니다.

무더운 막바지 여름은 지나가고, 다양한 지역에서의 가을 사진축제는 바이러스와 태풍에 지친 우리에게 새로운 에너지를 넣어 주고 있습니다. 열다섯 번째의 사진축제를 넘어서기 직전 2년여 간의 펜데믹의 지속적 공격은 아이러니 하게도 세상의 창작자들에게 또 다른 영감을 주었습니다. 어려운 시간은 창작자들에게도 또 다른 공간을 채워줄 현실에서의 이데아가 존재하는 모양입니다. 올해는 현재 및 미래의 공간뿐만이 아닌 과거의 공간을 채워 줄 소수의 작가 층을 초대하였습니다. 어려운 상황 안에서도 선뜻 전주의 작은 사진축제에 참여해주신 기획자, 작가 분들께 항상 감사한 마음입니다.

전주국제사진제는 작가위주의 사진축제입니다. 오로지 작가들을 위한 멍석을 깔아놓고 그 위에서 자유롭게 즐기고 대화하고, 새로운 영감을 받을 수 있는 무한의 자리를 마련합니다. 같은 장소에서 서로 다른 시대를 넘나들며, 20대부터 6,70대까지도 스스럼없이 이야기하고, 원하는 만큼 토론하고 소통하는 등 전주에서의 소중한 시간은 우리가 예견하기 힘든 새로운 미래를 공유 할 새로운 공간으로 남게 될 것입니다. 많은 분들의 느낌대로, 바라는 대로 2022.전주포토페스트벌의 시간은 사진 인들에게 가장 즐겁고 행복하며 다시 방문하고픈 사진축제로 기억되기를 바라고 있습니다. 올해 역시 정성껏 초대된 청년작가 및 시대를 풍미하고 활발히 활동하는 출중한 중견 사진가들과 함께하는 흥미롭고 라이브한 난장의 사진축제로 준비하고자 합니다. 찾아주신 방문객 여러분과 전주시 관계자분들, 기획자 및 참여 작가들, 관람객 모두에게 행복하고 가치 있는 전주에서의 추억으로 남을 수 있기를 바랍니다.
